Maharat Nakorn Ratchasima Hospital in Korat Province, June 2014

30.09.2014

Nakhon Ratchasima province, often called Korat, is a big city in the region of Isan in Thailand’s northeast. This mission was an “ongoing medical mission”, which means that the hospital schedules the cleft lip and cleft palate surgeries over a few months in between their other plastic surgery patients. This is an efficient way to organize the surgeries to get the maximum utilization of the resources, if the hospitals have all the equipment and personnel in place over a longer period of time, like they have at this hospital. The surgeries started on June 5th and were completed before the end of the year.

We had a group of 15 people in our KAFK group traveling to Korat to meet with patients and their families, visit the hospital wards, observe surgery and hold a press conference for the local press.

It was a great experience to communicate and play with the children of different ages. As you can see from the pictures in the photo gallery below we had a fun time together.

Thank you so much to Maharat Nakorn Ratchasima Hospital for having us come to visit and showing us around. Thank you also to all our donors, volunteers and supporters, which have all made it possible for KAFK to fund this mission.
